Research
Introduction:
"British research is in a fertile phase with the success of a number of disease specific national endeavours which involve almost all the hospitals in the UK that are involved in the care of patients with liver disease. These groups include those focusing on hepatitis C, PBC, PSC, AIH, HCC, NAFLD, STOPAH and we hope in the future liver disease in pregnancy. They have been successful in generating large patient cohort databases providing novel clinical insight, large patient sample collections for laboratory focused research and clinical trials. Several have published in high impact journals and managed to obtain research funding at the highest levels." In addition BASL has now run nine very successful residential Basic Science Symposia.
